I just received an e-mail from "Tompkins" aka "Murphy"'s new family, and he did great all the way from here to Tulsa Airport then on to his new home in Houston. I am relieved to say the least. I always worry about my puppies; they are so important to me as most of you already know.
Although I have placed puppies with urban dwellers in the past during my suburban Chicago days, it has been quite some time since then. This nice couple came here yesterday, and then I wondered about Murphy's schedule and care while both of them worked. This is serious business having a new puppy in your family. I was relieved to hear their plans, and I believe they will work for my boy.
Just a caution though........have a plan prepared in advance of pickiing up your puppy. Have the food purchased and all supplies in order.......bowls, leash, collar, toys, sleeping area and fleece pads for sure. Kn ow where your puppy will sleep, and be patient with him.........remember, he is a little lonely, too, leaving his familiar surroundings here. I suggested to this young couple what a St. Louis fellow did last year.....hire a pet sitter to come to your 2x;s daily at first or have a friend or family look in. A young puppy cannot hold his pottying for 8 hours; that is a given. I know that can be expensive if you must pay for it, but your puppy is well worth it, and he will adjust well.
Happy to hear things are going well with all the new owners. Let's keep up the good work. Four have gone home at this time,,,,,,,,,,many more to leave over next week. I will still have the puppies I have chosen to stay with us for possible show potential. I'll still have my everloving hands quite full (lol)!
Oops, I hear them acalling me now. It's about that time since they went down for morniig nap at 9:00. My little darling puppies. I want to get them outside again since today's weather may have a snow/rain mix this afternoon. Later.
