Both Litters outside today

Posted by ckranz60005@yahoo.com on January 16, 2012 at 3:50 PM

When Callie's litter as pretty much "down  for the count" outside, I brought Glory's litter outside to join them.   I had added still another exercise pen out there to enlarge the area even further.   No altercations among puppies, but considering the younger litter is only l0 days younger than the older, they seem to attempt to intimidate the younger puppies.   Not this time, probably since they were so tired after being outside about 2 hours, safely inside their enlarged pen.   At one point intermingling  did take place with some snuggling of both litters.........so cute.   Unfortunately, I didn't video it this a.m........I'phone needed charging.   Today seemed like a great opportunity to have everyone outside......so unseasonbly warm again.....up to 58 degrees, feeling even warmer in the sun.   Guess this is a record breaking day here for temps in January.   Tomorrow on the other hand may bring snow or rain so I had to seize the op to give the puppies an outdoor outing.

I'm now adding about l/2 can of Instinct canned dog food, beef formula to Callie's litter's food......they just don't eat that well now it seems.   That is, they don't without my adding home made puppy formula to it.   They love lapping down the liquid I make with the canned food added, leaving the whole kernels of kibble.   Hopefully, they'll begin to eat better.   I hate to take a step backwards to pulverizing their food.   After all, they go to their homes beginning in 2 weeks.   If Mom stops nursing totally, I guess they'll eat better.

Funny, yesterday, on the puppie's 6 week anniversary. Callie decidd  "no more nursing",  just like that.   Didn't nurse them at all yesterday.  Then this morning , probably feeling some discomfort, she nursed them.   It usually goes like this....the dams may nurse once daily once the puppies are this age.

I'm tired myself after sitting outside with them this morning in the fresh air and sunshine.   Around noon I brought everyone inside, and all of us took a little "power nap"...........I still need more.
